meditative awareness series

This series is a representation of the meditation practice, beginning with:

meditation I: mindful-less : the point where you realize your mind is on overload - you’re thinking is all over the place. Maybe you’re having a difficult time pulling together thoughts on a life or work situation. Maybe there is just too much happening at once, causing an inability to deal with any one item effectively. However you see it, I call it Mindful-less.

meditation II: contemplation: when you stop and sit down, realizing it’s time to slow down and engage in the practice of meditation. Some do this by trying to empty their minds of all thought. Some do it by opening their minds to awareness of all they hear going on around them. Some may chant, others do silent body scans, while others follow the lead of a meditation guide to help redirect their thinkng, or help them calm their minds and bodies. For me, the practice of meditation is a form of contemplation.

meditation III: enlightenment: the state of mind you hope to fine following your meditation. Enlightment can involve looking inside yourself with fresh eyes, and looking at the world and those around you with less fear, less trepidation, and more love and kindness.

Discovering the peace and growth I received from meditation, reminds me of the peace and the learning process I find when I paint. Painting is a form of meditation to me. I hear other artists say similar things. It was the inspiration for these paintings, and why it is important to me that the three go together, like brothers and sisters, to the same home, where they will be reminders and inspiration to someone else.
