barriers
I painted this after spending time working with people who are losing memory, losing who they used to be, to dementia. i began to see that many of us at times have things happen that change how we interpret or connect with the world. Those changes can affect how we are perceived from the outside. That does not diminish the person inside. others may not always understand and may poke and prod at us to react in certain ways, the way we once did. new barriers may upend relationships we used to have. time for those around us to work with us to forge new ways.

black hole, whole
It used to be scientists believed black holes were dark patches in space that unlucky objects would stumble across be sucked in, and disappear. Now it’s known that black holes are quite visible, because of all the bright light and colors left as objects enter. I thought how that is like people. Those open and willing to learn and grow, seem to be the ones that glow the brightest.
